To more clearly see where the ball goes in to the goal, watch the left side of the goal and you will see the red blur as it goes in. The ball is hit into the net with the middle man on this rod, and it is struck with a brushing motion (like in tennis topspin) so that the striking man goes back all the way to right. This is done to try to straighten out the path of the ball as it goes into the net, counteracting the lateral momentum that the ball has. The ball is positioned slightly toward the viewer underneath the bar, so the man strikes the ball into the table a bit to help with this.
